Glastonbury 1998 Pictures

These photos are all Steve B's, by the way.

To ease you in, we'll start with a few pictures of our campsite. It was rather luxurious up there...

Look, there are lots of pictures. If your
browser doesn't do JPEGs, there's no point your staying here. Sorry.
Catching a few rays outside the tent.

Inside the tent. We got used to this view.

Tux looks down benignly on the festival.

OK. Now you've got used to things, here's a look at conditions lower down in the valley...

A grandiose attempt to keep the mud away from the traders.

Another way of crossing the ocean of mud

More ambitious tradesmen

We think this man was an "artiste" with access to showers backstage. Or a ton of LSD....

See how prettily the sun reflects off the mud.

In case it's not clear enough: "For Sale. Five Pounds ONO"

Straw absorbs water to some extent, and provides a temporary solid surface. It also floats, we found.

A common sight around the festival.

You can have great fun with a lilo, a wetsuit, a load of mud and running water, and a slope

Enough of the mud. What else did we see?

Aaaaaw. Muddy crusties, muddy dogs.

If only this picture could capture the torrents of water streaming off the sign and the cable.

Posing in the King's Field

The gate to the green crafts field. Don't say we never give you art..

"The laughter of children. It cuts through me like a knife"

View from near the farmhouse

These people hung around to see Bob Dylan -- instead of running off to finish off the roll of film, like anyone sensible.

... and to finish off, the laughs we had watching emperilled vehicles...

We found this scene... Standish. What's happened?

Oh dear...

Of course, it didn't end here. Unfortunately mere pictures can't capture the chain of events this traffic jam caused. Three tractors and a lot of shouting eventually sorted it... and the tour bus, and the sewerage lorry... and the motorbike... ah, I don't remember.
